Do I have to pay when my child is sick or on vacation?Short answer is YES! A courtesy call or message is greatly appreciated if you will be absent, late, or picked up early. This helps us to plan our meals and activities daily. Our contract stipulates that families will receive 3 days non-paid absences per calendar year, after 12 consecutive months of care. Here’s why: Reserved Spot: Even when your child is not present, your payment ensures their spot is reserved in the daycare. We have a limited capacity, and each spot is a portion of our expected income, crucial for operational stability. Fixed Operating Costs: We have fixed operating costs such as food, utilities, staff salaries, and insurance. These costs remain constant regardless of whether a child is present. Your fees contribute to these ongoing expenses, ensuring the daycare can continue providing quality care at a resonable cost. Staffing and Resource Planning: We plan our staffing, curriculum, activities and resources based on enrolled children, not daily attendance. Your fees support this planning, ensuring adequate staffing and resources for all children.
-
Do you take vacation?Yes! Provider may take up to 2 non-consecutive weeks (10 business days) of vacation each calendar year at 100% of the contracted rate. Parents are notified months in advance and can also review planned closures in Brightwheel calendar. Vacation policies are crucial for several reasons: Staff Rest and Retention: Regular breaks help maintain staff well-being and reduce burnout, ensuring your child is always cared for by rejuvenated and attentive staff. Maintenance and Upgrades: Closures allow for essential maintenance and updates to the daycare facility, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for children. Predictability for Parents: Defined vacation days allow parents to plan alternative care arrangements or family time accordingly.

When should my child stay home?It is not always easy to decide if a child should remain at home due to an illness. Children in attendance are expected, with few exceptions, to participate fully in childcare activities. A child who is too ill to remain in care will be isolated from the other children. The parent will be notified of their child’s illness and will be required to pick up their child within 60 minutes Children who are exhibiting the following symptoms will be sent home or should remain home for a full 24 hours after symptoms have cleared: Fever of 100 degrees or higher: this signals an illness may make a child uncomfortable and unable to function well in childcare. Vomiting, diarrhea or severe nausea: these are symptoms that require a child to remain at home until a normal diet is tolerated the night before and the next morning. Rashes: rashes or patches of broken, itchy skin should be examined by a doctor if it appears to be spreading or not improving. Children with communicable diseases shall not attend childcare. Examples of communicable diseases include but are not limited to Chicken Pox, Influenza, Pink Eye, Mumps, Strep Throat, Impetigo, Lice, Measles, Whooping Cough, Scarlet Fever. It is important that you notify the provider if any medication has been administered to your child within the last 24 hours. Should there be a medical emergency it is crucial to report whether the child is on medication. All prescriptive and non-prescriptive medications (including diaper rash creams and sunscreens) that need to be administered at childcare by the provider requires that the parent complete an Authorization to Administer Medication Form.
-
Do I need to send lunch and snacks? No! We gladly provide, breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack.
-
What is your termination policy? Our contract may be terminated by either the parent/guardian or provider by giving 2 weeks written notice in advance of the ending date. *Payment by parent/guardian is due for the notice period, even if the child is absent. Reasons for provider termination may include but are not limited to: failure of parents/guardians to pay failure of parent/guardian to complete required forms lack of parent cooperation inability of the child to adjust to childcare/inability of provider to meet the child’s needs failure of parent to abide by contract/policies In some cases, immediate termination may be necessary. Some reasons for immediate termination may include, but are not limited to, failure for a parent to pay required fees, health or safety reasons of the children in care. Communication between parents and the provider is very important. Termination due to any of these reasons would be a last resort of parents/guardian and provider being unable to resolve the issue together. *Note: Termination of care for a child(ren) by the provider will not be paid by parent during the termination period. Termination of care for a child(ren) by the parent will be paid for the termination period.
